Bryson is a student-visionary that thinks outside the box to form and achieve his goals. He has graduated from high school early and is working at his family business, leadership work at his church, organizing TEDxYouth@DeerLake, and exploring his broad interests to find a focus in the time before university. He is excited to work with the amazing students and adults on his team and, as the president, is optimistic that the event will be a rewarding experience for the team members and audience alike.
Carlos is a grade 12 student eager to collaborate. Enrolled in a Film and Broadcast industry program, Carlos has participated in numerous student and professional-level projects like short films and television programs as production assistant, camera operator, writer, editor, among other roles. In his free time, he enjoys to explore other artistic media and play soccer.
Anna is a passionate grade 12 student who strives to become a role model for her friends, family, and peers. She enjoys spreading awareness on mental health and the importance of self love, and because of this she was known as the, “Go-to advice person”. Anna enjoys watching TED talks on her spare time, so, being a part of an organization is a dream come true!
Ricky Mao is currently in grade 12. Apart from being Director of Technology for TEDxYouth@DeerLake, Ricky runs a programming club. He codes in Java and Swift, and in his free time, enjoys making mobile applications. When he isn't coding, you can find Ricky hiking, playing badminton, or reading a nice novel.
Catherine Hsu is a grade 12 who is delighted to be a part of this year’s TEDxYouth@DeerLake team. Ambitious and self-driven, she hopes to assist the team's mission in helping today’s youth in getting involved and discovering their passions. As of now, Catherine is also working alongside a psychiatric research group at BC Children’s Hospital and leading the student non-profit organization, Beyond STEM. When not doing TEDxYouth work, volunteering, or cramming for tests, you may find her buried in her study notes or near your local ice cream parlour.
Andrew Huang is a senior high school student who loves to challenge himself. Previously working in the marketing team for Strive Competition, he hopes to bring his talents to TEDxYouth@DeerLake! In his spare time, Andrew can be found watching Netflix or studying at Starbucks.
Dan Seo is a grade 10 who is very enthusiastic about working in a new environment. Excited and motivativated, he hopes to achieve a lot with TEDxYouth team and help spread the words of TED. Dan enjoys working with others, and he is interested in working on website blogs and you may find him in the corner at a local library.

Ruby is a dedicated and responsible student eager to learn more about the world. As the jack-of-all-trades, she aspires to aid those in need with the skills and experience she has acquired through tackling many hardships. On her spare time, she also enjoys playing a variety of instruments and composing music while experimenting with motion graphics and art.

Julia is a hardworking student interested in many fields of work. Aside from her aptitude to learn, she is interested in art, photography and cooking. She also volunteers as a Streamkeeper, protecting the environment while collaborating with the municipal government.
Ms. Huang is a Math and Computer Science teacher in Burnaby, the BC Regional Manager of Microsoft Philanthropies’ TEALS program and a MSc. student at SFU. After graduating from UBC and working as a software developer for several years, she decided to pursue her childhood dream of becoming a teacher. She’s been involved in many not-for-profit groups since she’s a student at UBC, such as the Vancouver Taiwanese Film Festival and IAmAntiBully Society, etc., just to name a few. During her free time, she enjoys reading, watching TED talks, solving math puzzles and playing ping-pong.
Ms. West is co-founder and artistic director of a recital series in Vancouver, BC –
Müzewest Concerts. Through the University of Alberta and the Royal Conservatory of Music of Toronto, Ms. West completed all theory examinations (including Harmony, Analysis, and Counterpoint), receiving First Class Honours with Distinction in History. Ms. West has maintained a busy schedule teaching Elementary French Immersion full time in BC public schools and teaching piano privately.
